Fuel theft prevention
Fuel keeps getting more expensive. Because of this fuel theft is one of the fastest rising forms of crime. In just the first four months of 2014 more fuel was stolen than in the entire year 2013. A questionnaire by Cumela Nederland, trade organisation for entrepreneurs in green, ground and infra, shows that in 2014, between Cumela’s members, well over one million litre of fuel has disappeared from tanks. In 2012 this was only 650.000 litre.
In 2015 the amount of fuel thefts are still increasing steeply. A modern day truck easily carries between € 600,00 and € 2.200,00 in fuel. These amounts are very attractive to thieves. Vehicles, machines and static tanks are often the victim of fuel theft, but this form of theft also occurs more often in agriculture, construction and the maritime sector.
In the Netherlands we keep dealing with internal theft more and more, especially the logistic sector is very vulnerable. With Fuel Shield’s special sensor technology every opening of the fuel cap is registered. Even when the system is disarmed it will still send a text alert (with time, location, vehicle and alarm code) to the owner every time the fuel cape is removed or replaced. Whenever the tank is opened without being at a gas station the owner can discuss this with his driver.
Unfortunately the easiest sale is to a victim of this crime. But the best way to prevent it in the first place is to already have the system and that is exactly the message we are trying to bring across .
It is very important to equip your fuel with fuel theft prevention to prevent you from becoming a victim. Protect your possessions therefore with Fuel Shield.
